After Monday's defeat against Team Germany, Team Austria took their first three points of the tournament against Team Japan.

Austria scored five unanswered goals in the first two periode and led 5-0 before Japan got the first consolation goal.

5-1 after the second period and Japan scored twice in the third period to make it 5-3 but never came closer.

Austria dominated the shots 45-18 and had Leon Kolarik as the leading player with 2+2.
